The Heron’s Nest (Home)

First and foremost, we thank the twenty-one artists from seven countries who submitted their work to us. It’s obvious that much preparation went into those submissions and the overall quality far exceeded our expectations.

The panel of judges consisted of David Noble, an accomplished artist and professional book designer, and The Heron’s Nest editors. After careful study of the submitted work, notes were compared and a vote taken. Fortunately, there was much agreement. In addition to the cover for Volume VII and the five issue dividers (spring, summer, fall, winter, and the awards section), it was decided to include additional illustrations to introduce sub-divisions of The Nest—an Overview, two sections of the Readers’ Choice Awards (Special Mentions and Voter Comments), and three memorial sections. One illustration will be the frontispiece for all three memorials.
