outgoing tide
    jellyfish fade
       with the sky

misty moon–
strains of a boatman's song
lost at sea

loneliness–
a piece of driftwood
keeps returning

bull through binoculars:
              blurred fence
                focused eye

a dried lemon
falls from the tree
the day lengthens

starless night
     one long blast
     from the ship's horn

footprints–
     a warm lantern
         left on the sand

hide-and-seek
the weeping willow
giggles

a rooster
the split rail fence
zig-zags

commencement day–
wind not strong enough
to flutter the flag
